You may be familiar with the fact we talk about gaming a lot by now, however, VR has many sides to it that take on multiple forms of content! One of the more interesting sides in cinematic experiences in VR. Immersing yourself fully in the content is second to none and really takes the experience to a whole new level. Let’s talk about a few great pieces of content that you can look up today!
Pearl
Pearl is an absolutely beautiful story of a father, her daughter and the hardships of growing up.It is a 2017 Emmy Award-Winner Short Film for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Storytelling, a 2017 Oscar-nominated “Best Animated Short Film”, has a 2017 Ub Iwerks Award for Technical Advancement in the Art of Animation, as well as it’s an Academy-Award Nominee Best Animated Short. Directed by Patrick Osborne, I absolutely recommend giving this one a watch! The best part is you don’t need a VR headset! Obviously, for the best experience, it will be best, however simply look for the video on YouTube and you can watch it in 360 with your phone. Chameleon VR
When talking about Cinematic VR I wanted to include some video along with short films and documentaries. Chameleon VR is one of Singapore’s best VR Content Producer, if not the best based on what I’ve found. They have many experiences, ranging in this territory and you can download their app to get access to all of their content. I did and wow, they have some cool and sad stuff. If you go to their website or download their app, please give yourself the time to watch HAPPYLAND360, a sad mini-doc on the current living conditions of the Manilla community living in the country’s biggest active dump. It’s definitely worth a watch along with some of their Short Films.
Toronto New Wave Festival
