Although we’ve written many articles in the past about various elements of Virtual Reality, let’s pretend for a second that you know nothing about this new and foreign technology. You want to do something unique, fun and exciting for your next office outing and have heard mumblings about the word ‘VR’. So what can you expect when you venture into the virtual world with your team?
Here’s how it works: Once you are finished a quick tutorial video and introduction, you step into a padded booth and put a VR headset over your eyes and head, which makes you completely blind to the outside world. Then, you are handed two controllers – one for each hand. You are then immediately transported into the virtual world. It seems overwhelming at first, but you come to love it, I promise. Plus, here at VRPlayin, we’ve made a custom mini-game tutorial for you to go through before you jump in to our catalog of experiences. This will help you get familiar with the controls so when it comes time to play you’ll already be feeling comfortable.
Thanks to built in microphones on the headset, once you clip the earphones on you can communicate with the rest of your team placed in the other VR booths, even though you can’t see them and you’re separated by the surrounding walls of your booth.
Now this is where the team building part comes in. Depending on what experience you choose, you will now be a virtual avatar of yourself in VR. Between the controllers 5 main functions you can teleport, fly and shoot, while also using your body to duck and dodge in the virtual world. The act of physically utilizing the 8 feet by 8 feet space in your booth is key to avoid getting hit! No matter what experience you’re in, take advantage of the microphones to communicate with your teammates – whether you need to work together toward a common goal, or gang up against each other to win a match.
In all honesty, the wonders of Virtual Reality is hard to explain on paper. You really just need to experience it for yourself. If I’ve peaked your interest, consider coming to VRPlayin for a free demo and tour of our space! You can schedule one by clicking below:
