As isolating as Virtual Reality may seem, it’s actually quite the opposite when it comes to group events. Because of the wide range of multiplayer content now available, it’s a fantastic team building activity. If you’re looking for someone to do for your next corporate event, but are reluctant about what VR can offer, let me break down some of the best experiences you and your co-workers should dive in to.
Rec Room
If you’re familiar with the Nintendo Wii, Rec Room is like the ‘Wii Sports’ of the VR world, but offers so much more. There are several activities to choose, from paddle ball to adventure quests to laser tag. However, I’m going to focus on what is arguably the games best activity – paintball.
Players are divided into teams and can either play a classic team battle, or spice things up with capture the flag mode. Thanks to built in microphones on the VR headsets, you can communicate with your team at all times; making sure to watch each others backs or give away the enemies positioning.
This game will also get you moving, possibly even working up a sweat! Use your body to crouch, duck and hide behind obstacles in the virtual world to make sure your cover isn’t blown. This is a great warm up game and introduction to Virtual Reality multiplayer, guaranteed to get you and your teams adrenaline pumping.
Skyfront
If you’ve ever wanted to fly in real life, Skyfront will make sure you feel as close to the real thing as possible (but if you’re afraid of heights, maybe skip to the next suggestion). Supporting up to 10 players at once, Skyfront is a massive multiplayer option for either a 5 vs 5 team battle, or a free-for-all.
Put yourself in a futuristic rendition of either Greece or Egypt, and fly around in an attempt to blast your opponents away. The person with the highest kill score at the end of the round wins. It might sound simple, but trust me — flying around while also trying to aim at your opponent who is also flying around provides a bit of a challenge. However, once you get used to it, this is one of the most addicting VR games out there.
Smashbox Arena
A Virtual Reality spin on the classic game of dodgeball. This one is a team-based action game with insane physics-driven power-ups. Shoot, duck behind cover, and coordinate with teammates…all in glorious VR!
With tons of character choices and level options, this is a fun game for everyone. Witnessing hundreds of corporate events at VRPlayin, this is one of those games that I’ve seen EVERYONE have fun in, whether they’re 20 or 60 years-old, it doesn’t make a difference. There is something great about a little healthy competition, and Smashbox Arena is sure to bring you that.
Tales of Escape
Tales of Escape is a chilling escape room game that really requires brain power. Get in a team of up to 6 people and try and solve the cryptic clues laid around the room in an attempt to escape. Think it will be easy? It’s not. Everyone must pull their weight in this game, which makes it a perfect team building exercise.
I’ve rarely seen anyone escape the levels currently available in this game, so if you’re the competitive type who is up for a challenge, this one’s for you and your team.
If you haven’t tried Virtual Reality for you next corporate event, I hope this article has been helpful in showing you the kind of team building content that is currently available.
